I have been asked what mediums and materials I use.
I always start out with black and white Derwent pencils in shades:
2B, 3B, HB, Dark Wash 8B mostly and woodless black:
I recently came across colored woodless pencils. I found out quickly I really enjoy the texture they bring to my art. The colors are beautiful and you can find some nice sets of them many stores. I also found pencil erasers. You sharpen them and use the tip like and eraser. Good for small areas or lines.
As for pastels, soft chalk either color or black and white:
I mostly draw on Bristol Paper of any size. It is acid free and smooth, good for just about any medium. I also love strathmore charcoal paper for roughness and blending easily and watercolour paper for the same reason. It will depend on how much detail you will like.
I have a blender tool in different sizes and many erasers. Be careful to make sure if some erasers work better than others on certain surfaces or you can get smudges.
You can find these are many art and crafts stores.
